From the A12 -
Come off the A12 at Junction 26, signposted Colchester West / A1124 / Stanway / Zoo.
Follow the signs (white elephant on brown background) to the Zoo. These will take you through Tollgate Retail Park, past Homebase on your left and Sainsburys, etc, to your right. At the south end of Tollgate turn left then right at mini-roundabouts onto Warren Lane.
Continue south along Warren Lane to its junction with the B1022 Colchester-Maldon road, near Heckfordbridge.
Turn left onto the B1022 towards the Zoo and Colchester. Shortly you will pass the entrance to the Zoo on your right.
One mile after the Zoo you will come to a roundabout. Take the exit to the right, following the signs to B1026 / Mersea / Layer de la Haye.
At the next roundabout continue following the signs to B1026 / Mersea / Layer de la Haye, which will bring you to the B1026 Colchester-Layer de la Haye road and a mini-roundabout.
Cross the B1026 by turning right at this roundabout, and left at the mini-roundabout immediately after, into Berechurch Hall Road.
Continue for half a mile to the Maypole pub, on your right, and turn right into Bounstead Road.
Continue for another half mile to Fridaywood Farm. The entrance will be on your right.
