Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast
Come and enjoy bed and breakfast in our spacious period farmhouse, part of which dates back to the 17th century. Here you will receive a warm welcome and be well looked-after. Our aim is to make your stay with us as relaxed and comfortable as we can.
The farmhouse is surrounded by wooded countryside, yet is only two miles south of Colchester town centre. Colchester lays claim to being Britain's oldest recorded town and is rich in Roman history. The town also boasts some excellent modern leisure and shopping facilities. A pleasing blend of the old and the new!
The 500 acres of Fridaywood Farm are mainly arable, growing cereals and root crops. As you might expect on a farm we do also have some animals. In addition to the family dogs there are horses and, at certain times of the year, sheep.
At Fridaywood Farm you can enjoy a game of tennis on our hard court or, if feeling less energetic, brush up your lawn croquet skills. Other options are quiet walks in the surrounding woodland or cycling (bring your own bike) through country lanes or on off-road tracks. The area is renowned for its bird watching, with important nature reserves and the coast close by. For some of the many other things to see and do in this delightful rural corner of north east Essex see our Local Attractions page.
Central London is less than an hour away with regular trains from Colchester North Station to Liverpool Street. Looking forward, we are on the right side of London for the 2012 Olympics. Also within an hour's travel are Stansted Airport and the ferry and cruise port of Harwich.
Fridaywood Farm has been assessed by enjoyEngland, the official tourist board for England, and awarded a VisitBritain four star Farmhouse grading and Silver Award. We are also approved under VisitBritain's 'Walkers Welcome' and 'Cyclists Welcome' schemes. In addition we have been awarded an AA four star Guest Accommodation grading.
